In this role you will be working as a part of our integrated design team and are responsible for collaborating on the design of projects from pre-design and programming through construction administration on projects ranging in size and complexity.
You will often lead project design efforts, client interactions, and presentations.
You will mentor junior staff, fostering a work environment that emphasizes mutual respect, integration, learning, communication, and collaboration. This role is focused on our education markets with an emphasis on identifying and developing the strengths you bring to the overall team.
You will seek-out, and assume, leadership opportunities in your office and region by coordinating and implementing learning-oriented and social activities focused on our education work.
You will work collaboratively with clients, contractors, vendors and DLR Group team members to deliver projects.
The successful candidate will:
Be a collaborative design team member and guide thought-leadership throughout all phases of the design process.
Have strong client and time management skills.
Set a vision and direction for design concept presentations.
Set a vision and direction for material palettes, reviews, and provide feedback to the team for development.
Estimate fees, determine scope of work, and prepare proposals and contracts
Have strong creative design and drawing skills, graphic and oral design presentation skills, capacity for conceptual design thinking, and 3D design/modeling ability.
Have a deep understanding of the research underpinning the Evidence Based Design solutions adding value beyond the traditional FF&E support; and work to generate design support tools.
Contribute to the development of Construction Documents and specifications, may provide a QA/QC role.
Set direction and contribute to the development of Furniture packages, may provide a QA/QC role.
Required
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or equivalent
Professional NCIDQ Certification
Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work both independently and effectively in a cross-disciplinary team atmosphere and across multiple offices.
Outstanding communication, and interpersonal skills and be an enthusiastic team player.
Strong leadership and team building skills.
Strong time management skills.
Preferred
Qualifications:
8-12 years of experience with a significant portion in local education work.
Industry involvement in relevant market sector organizations
Proficiency with Sketch
Up and some 3D rendering software
Has an interest in healthy materials and sustainable building design
