Group is looking for a highly talented Senior Design Architect with an extensive higher education portfolio to join our team our team. The Senior Design Architect will be an advocate for design excellence within the office through an integrated and collaborative approach. The Design Leader consistently exhibits and demonstrates a commitment to Smith

Working with us, you will:
Manages design team members during the implementation of design to ensure clarity and quality of concept is maintained through detail level.
Manages client interaction and decision making relative to design.
Create and develop planning and design concepts for university facilities, such as Health Sciences
Education (Nursing, Allied Health, Dental, Medical) Facilities, STEM
Education (Science and Engineering) Facilities, Professional Schools (Business, Law), General Classroom Facilities, and Student Life Facilities (Residential, Dining, Recreation).Present design solutions to client representatives and/or design review committees.
Supervise the development of renderings and presentation drawings for client presentations and internal meetings.
Participate in business development activities, project pursuits and interviews including identification of target clients and the development of the Higher
Education business development plan within the office.
Represents the firm in design presentations at national events and outside associations.
Mentor, provide oversight, and monitor the design work of others to ensure integrated and cohesive designs.
Will report to the Studio Leader and will work closely with the Studio Leader, Office Director, Business Development Director, Marketing and Senior Designers of the firm to market our services in the Higher
Education practice.
An ideal candidate has:
Registration as a licensed architect is required; LEED AP is preferred.
Licensed in California (strongly preferred).Minimum 15 years’ experience as lead architectural designer in higher education.
Must have thorough knowledge of applicable California building codes.
DSA and OSFM experience desired.
Demonstrated effectiveness and commitment to working in a team-based setting, delivering high client service and technical competence.
Advanced graphic and verbal presentation skills
Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch
Up, Photoshop, Illustrator and PowerPoint.
Strong business acumen and critical thinking skills in the pursuit of work
Strong communication skills and the ability to earn the respect of clients, team members, direct reports and others external to the firm
Has the ability to lead an integrated design process including architects, interior designers, engineers, planners and site designers.
Demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills to develop future design talent
The ability to travel 25% of time locally and nationally.
