Overview of
Role:
You will be responsible for building and leading a practice in the state of California within the larger Global Cultural + Performing Arts Practice.
You will have significant decision-making authority, working closely with senior leadership. Specifically, you’ll be responsible for identifying and hiring staff, strengthening bonds with national and international teammates, and elevating design and our brand.
You will engage with our local, regional, and national resources who provide a wealth of perspective and design, planning, and thought leadership to our Cultural + Performing Arts clients worldwide.
Essential Functions
Design:
Develop design approaches to build upon our award-winning portfolio, where all projects strive for design excellence. This includes hands-on design leadership and cultivating a team and culture to advance a design-led integrated practice.
Planning and Strategy: Work closely with the Global Leader for Cultural + Performing Arts to develop strategies for the annual business plan.
Business Development: Identify new project opportunities, lead/participate in relationship-building with clients to capture new work, lead/participate in RFQ process and interviews for new project opportunities
Optimizing resources: Collaborate with the Cultural + Performing Arts Practices to leverage all firm resources, disciplines, and thought leaders.
Internal integration: Successfully collaborate with our broader fully Integrated Design Practice.
Project leadership: Lead and or assist in the leadership of planning and design projects in the region.
Staff leadership: Mentor team members and lead and participate in hiring, training, and onboarding of new staff.
Communication: Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with strong organizational skills.
Training: Participate in in-house training activities to further develop you own skills and abilities and those of all members of the Studio.
Organizational Participation: Actively engage in local and regional organizations AIA, NO
MA, SCUP, NACAS, TAM, etc.
Requirements:
At least 10 years of demonstrated experience with multiple Cultural + Performing Arts clients and projects.
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture: Licensed Architect in California preferred, ity to gain licensure in California within first 6 months of employment.
Demonstrated experience as a Practice Builder within a design firm
Experience-based competency
Knowledge of the Cultural + Performing Arts environment: trends, challenges, expectations and the dynamics of decision-making by clients in purchasing professional services
